Are our younger generation turning Self-Adorers (Selfie vs Narcissists)
The self-loving spectrum
of charismatic people is widely emerging in our modern world. As said, this
tendency of self-love exits in every individual, but this far-reaching vice
upon the self-inflated sport, Selfie was born quite recently.
What do you
think?
Is it personality disorder or our new generation smartphones lured us
into it?
I remember my
graduation in Literature, I had to learn about Greek mythological character,
Narcissus, I used to wonder how anyone can fell in love with one's own image.
This concept, down the time, turned to be under Psychoanalytical study of
Sigmund Freud which later on considered as a social or cultural problem. Here
behaviour malfunctioning is not the point I want to highlight.
Among the modern
generation, this ever-growing phenomenon tempts and allures the Selfie people
to dangerous spots like mountain tops, tall building, seas, lakes, and railway
tracks to take inimitable shots, at the cost of their own life. As per recent
researches, India ranks first in Selfie deaths. As far as I am concerned,
Selfie which can be a superior version of self-love (narcissism) and its
increasing magnitude, its 'grandiosity', which soars very high, must be curbed
down, before it swallows the world with its sharp clutches.
I ponder if Narcissus
got another chance to visit our place, he will be shocked to realize the self-destructive lifestyle of the contemporary world.
Stringent rules need to
be enforced before we knowingly or unknowingly engulf into a revolution of dark
triadic personality traits.
